“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His lovingkindess is everlasting.” Ps. 118:1

When I read this verse the other day, it almost jumped off the page at me! This part particularly struck in my mind, “give thanks to the Lord for He is good….”

“For He is good… for He is good… for He is good.” Those words echoed in my mind as I felt God reminding me to not only thank Him for what He has done or for what He has blessed me with, but to also thank Him for Who He is. “…He is good. His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

So many times, we tend to simply thank God for what He has done, what He has given us, and for what He promises to do for us. Now these are all excellent reasons to be thankful! Yet, this verse adds even another twist. “Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good. His lovingkindess is everlasting.” It reminds us to also praise God, to thank Him for Who He is.

Our God is so incredible! Let’s not forget to thank God for who He is as we go about our day today. He alone is worthy of worship and honor and praise. How great is our God!
